A Pathogen is a microbe that causes an infectious disease. A disease can be spread via air, water or body fluids. Over the years scientists have been working to prevent the spread of pathogens and to kill pathogens once inside the human body.

Homework Option 1: Developing new medicines

 

Present your work as a Poster

 

You should create a flow chart to describe the development of a new drug.

• Each stage in the process should be summarised in your own words.
• You should present your work clearly and the flow chart should be colourful and interesting to read.
• The presentation should include information about what makes a good medicine.
• The presentation should include some research into Thalidomide and ‘what went wrong’
• For Top marks and extra credit include examples of drugs developed recently and when testing goes wrong

1.     You should produce one of the following:

• A PowerPoint about Ignaz Semmelweiss - his life story and his work.
• A Biography about Ignaz Semmelweiss - his life story and his work.

• What is Puerperal Fever
