HOW SCIENCE WORKS.

 

The ‘How Science Works’ aspect of this course incorporates various skills such as interpreting graphs and other data. It also has an emphasis on the meanings of keywords and the correct use of these in ISAs and experimental write –ups.

 

Another skill important in scientific work is that of being able to take the essential findings from some data, either provided or from an experiment, and presenting them clearly and concisely in a report.

 

What to do next:

 

Choose one of these 2 TASKS

 

1.     You are going to try the activities from the following website on OBESITY AND CANCER. Your end-product will be a poster. www.upd8.org.uk   you can log in and type in ‘obesity and cancer’ and it will give you details of the activity.

 

2.     Use this data and any other facts you can find produce a report for the HEALTH PROTECTION AGENCY. Your report should include an evaluation of the data e.g. did they study enough people, was there a control and how long did the study last?
