a)     "I can’t believe, ‘I can’t believe it’s not butter’ is better than butter."

• Everyone is telling us that we must cut down on our fat intake and lead a healthy lifestyle.   
• ‘I can’t believe it’s not butter’ is a vegetable spread.
• Is it really healthier for you than butter?   
• Use your knowledge of saturated, unsaturated fats, and hydrogenation to write a short report explaining whether this is really true or not.

 

b)    Make your own mayonnaise and compare it to Hellmans mayonnaise or another commercially made brand. Activity sheet.

 

 

c)     Health scare – why have some additives been banned?

Blue Smarties are back! Yippee! But why were they banned in the first place? Can you find out?

Produce an A4 leaflet for Year 7 students telling them about the problems of too many additives in food and drink.
